Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has ordered a former rector of the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Professor Sailas Gyar, and two others to refund the sum of N2bn immediately.
A statement signed by the chairman, governing council of the polytechnic, Mr Mohammed Bako, quoted the governor as explaining that the decision was in line with the government’s White Paper on investigation into the activities of the institution.
The statement said the dismissal took effect from November 28, 2018, adding that the governing council had also approved the termination of the appointment of Mr Labani Joseph-Dio and, Mr Ahdullahi Akyo, the registrar and bursar respectively.
Our correspondent reports that the dismissed officials were sent on compulsory leave on October 26, 2017 to pave the way for investigation into their activities.
