The White House is getting into the holiday spirit.
First Lady Melania Trump took to Instagram over the weekend to share a sneak peek of this year’s Christmas decorations, complete with towering light-adorned trees, patriotic ornaments, fake snow and an advent calendar that reveals historical White House facts every day leading up
to Christmas.
In addition to sharing video closeups of herself inspecting the 18-foot White House Christmas tree, which is embellished with handmade paper flowers representing each state and territory, the mom of one also expressed her thanks to volunteers for their work on the decorations.
“The Spirit of America” is shining in the @whitehouse!” the first lady captioned the video on Sunday. “I am delighted to share this beautiful exhibit of patriotism for all to see, and excited for everyone to experience the beauty of the #Christmas season!”
On Monday, Trump followed up the video with new photographs of the festive decorations, including a gingerbread house replica of the White House in the State Dining Room.
While this weekend was the first time the decorations have been shown to the public, planning for the holidays began way back this summer. In July, the first lady shared that she had been hard at work reviewing sketches and decorations for the holiday.
#Christmas planning has begun in the East Wing at the @WhiteHouse. I'm looking forward to sharing our final vision for this unique tradition in the coming months. pic.twitter.com/oxt6Bdggcl
