Tallest married couple in the world
Sun Mingming and his wife Xu Yan (both China) are the tallest married couple in the world.
They measure 236.17 cm (7 ft 8.98 in) and 187.3 (6 ft 1.74 in) respectively, having a combined height of 423.47 cm (13 ft 10.72 in) when measured in Beijing, China, on 14 November 2013.They got married about five years ago in Beijing, China, on 4 August 2013.
Sun Mingming also holds the record for the tallest basketball player (current) at 236.17 cm (7 ft 8.98 in) when measured in Beijing, China, on 14 November 2013. He plays for the Heilongjiang provincial men’s basketball team.
Xu Yan plays handball for the Heilongjiang provincial women’s team.
Sun Mingming and Xu Yan met at the National Games of China in 2009, over time they fell in love before tying the knot.
Of their height, Sun and Xu say, “Everyday tasks such as traveling by car, plane or getting a room in a hotel do prove difficult, but we’re used to these problems.”
Their advice for a successful marriage – “no one is perfect, therefore you need to support one another on a daily basis.”
