Japanese scientists found a way to regrow hair on mice by using the silicone added to McDonald’s fries that stops the cooking oil from bubbling over when they are being fried. The chemical, called dimethylpolysiloxane, successfully mass-produced “hair follicle germs” (HFG) on the mice, leaving the scientists to believe it will be just as successful on humans.
Within days of injecting the silicone into the nudemice, the technique created 5,000 HFG’s.
“This simple method is very robust and promising,” Professor Junji Fukuda, of Yokohama National University said. “We hope this technique will improve human hair regenerative therapy to treat hair loss such as androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness). In fact, we have preliminary data that suggests human HFG formation using human keratinocytes and dermal papilla cells.”
McDonald’s has yet to respond to the findings. What do you guys think?
