A man has admitted murdering his young girlfriend before dismembering her body and flushing some of the parts down the toilet.

Erik Francisco Robledo, 46, says he killed Ingrid Escamilla Vargas, 25, in an apartment in the municipality of Gustavo A. Madero in Mexico City.

According to local media, the incident happened after an argument between the couple.

Reports said neighbours called the Citizen Safety Secretary (SSC) when they saw Robledo coming out of the building where he lived covered in blood.

Footage shows Robledo in a car with his head bandages and blood on his chest while he reportedly talks to a policeman.

He reported having had alcoholic drinks and arguing with the young woman.

In the clip he said: “We started to argue and we fought. She said she wanted to kill me and I said do it.

“She took a knife and I said do it at once. She stabbed me once and I said do it stronger. And she tried two more times.”

The man said he dismembered the woman’s dead body as he “did not want anyone to know”.

He said: “I used the same knife she attacked me with to stab her in her throat. I threw pieces of her dead body to the drainage system because I felt ashamed.”

Police officers found the kitchen knife used to dismember the woman as well as parts of the dead body, reports say.

Local media said police also found a plastic bag with body items a few blocks away from the apartment where the killing happened.
Authorities are investigating the case and are also trying to find the woman’s family who are believed to live in another city.
