“The internet is wild,” the rapper says.

Mac Miller has broken his silence on his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande and her quick engagement to Pete Davidson.

Miller and Grande split in May after two years of dating. By early June, the “No Tears Left To Cry” singer was engaged to Davidson after only a few weeks of dating. Miller explained that he didn’t “really” know about the engagement at first, but then everyone kept asking him if he was doing “okay.”

“You know, that’s the other thing is with the relationship thing is, like, the internet is wild,” Miller said Monday during an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 on Apple Music. “I kind of knew, but not really.”

“Like, I haven’t been on the internet. So, you know, people have assumed that I’m … ‘Are you okay? Is everything okay?'” he continued. “Because I was about to drop the album. And also, like, I don’t know, it just all seemed kind of unimportant, the need to show people I was ok. Like, what is that? Where does that come from? Why? Why do we have this need to use social media and the internet?”

The rapper added he’s “happy” that Grande is moving forward with her life.

“It’s strange. Like, the whole thing is a little strange but it’s not negative,” Miller said. “It’s just a part of something that’s going to continue to help make me who I am. You know, it’s all positive energy. I am happy for her and moving forward with her life just as I’m sure she is with me.”

Miller, who’s new album “Swimming” drops next month, expressed that his relationship with Grande fairly normal, but like any relationship there were times that were “stressful.”

“Life is stressful,” he said. “So, of course there were stressful times. It’s not that unique. You know, like, I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years. We worked through good times, bad times, stress, and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it’s that simple, you know.”

Miller’s comments come after releasing single “Self-Care” earlier this month. On the track he rapped about a lost relationship that caused him to feel like he was in a state of “oblivion.”

“Well, didn’t know what I was missing / Now it see a lil’ different / I was thinking too much / Got stuck in oblivion,” he rapped. “We play it cool / We know we f–ked up, yeah / You keep on sayin’ you in love, so?”

“Swimming” is out August 3.
