Liverpool star Mohammed Salah is back in training ahead of his team’s Champions League quarterfinal clash against Manchester City on Tuesday, April 10.
Salah was an instrumental figure for Liverpool as they defeated Manchester City 3-0 in the first leg at Anfield.
The Egyptian forward scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute and provided the assist for Sadio Mane’s goal in the 31st minute.
Salah, however, could not finish the first leg after he picked up an injury which led to him being replaced by Georginio Wijnaldum in the 52nd minute.
Liverpool supporters were worried over the fitness of Salah going into the second leg clash as he missed the 1-1 merseyside derby draw against Everton on Saturday, April 7.
After extensive tests at Liverpool’s Melwood training base, the Egyptian was cleared to join his teammates in training ahead of the game against City.
Liverpool, however, will be without Germany midfielder Emre Can who is ruled out of the season and captain Jordan Henderson who picked up a yellow card in the first leg.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp expressed his delight at the return of Salah to training, and also welcomed left backs Alberto Moreno and Andrew Robertson who were also doubts for the game.
Speaking ahead of the game Klopp stated that his team are not thinking about being favorites to qualify.
He said, “I am not interested (in the favourites tag). We are only in the lead. It is better than I expected but you all know there is still a lot of work to do. We are not thinking about who is favourite.”
