Gbarnga, Bong County – A young woman has gained the attention of citizens of Bong County after she was Monday, September 30, spotted begging on the roadside in Gbarnga in the scorching sun.
What is so special about this young lady is that she not only begging alone but she has her few-days old triplets along with her begging. She is assisted by some relatives.
Aletha Binda, a resident of the Rubber Factory Community in Gbarnga on Monday, September 23, delivered three boys at the Phebe Hospital and was later abandoned minutes later because of the go-slow action embarked upon by health workers on the same day of last week.
Aletha said her mom credited money in the tone of L$35,000 (US$167) to pay for the Caesarian Section (C-Section), at the hospital before she was able to bring forth her three boys.
“My mom credited L$35,000 from one man in my neighborhood for me to undergo the operation. The man is pressuring us to pay back his money now or else he will take us to court,” she said sadly.
She lamented that at the moment she is struggling to find feeding for her babies.
Worried Aletha told FrontPageAfrica that if she doesn’t receive assistance to cater for her babies, they might soon pass.
Since this newspaper first published an article on her, on the day of the health workers’ national strike action, Aletha has received a lot of media attention and several promises of support.
However, only one Madam Patricia M. Verdier, a Liberian residing in the US, made a contribution of US$50.
Aletha further told this newspaper, she is afraid that when she can no longer breastfeed the boys, they will be going to bed hungry as there will be no external food to feed the infants.
“We came to the Gbarnga Administrative Building to seek help from people.
Things have been so difficult for me and my children since I gave birth on September 23. I am calling on well-meaning Liberians to come to our aid. Things are really tough,” she said, sadly.
Aletha disclosed that the triplets are in poor health and they are dropping weight at the same time have become “malnourished.”
In addition to other essentials, Aletha said her children are in urgent need of medical assistance.
Aletha is begging well-meaning Liberians to succor her as the responsibility of taking care of the triplets would be too much for she and her mother to shoulder.
According to her, the children’s father had absconded when she was still pregnant and when it was known that she would deliver a set of triplets.
Aletha, her mom and an aunt held the three babies in their arms around the Bong County Administrative as begged for alms.
Aletha has requested that any assistance be channeled through Mr. Selma Lomax, reporter of FrontPageAfrica via his number 0886484666 (WhatsApp as well).
