The Pastor of Christ’s Church, Beach Land Estate, Apapa, Lagos, Raily Edwards-Raudonant, has appealed to German nationals to emulate Nigerians by taking their faith seriously.
Edwards-Raudonant, who lamented that the church in Europe was declining, said his mission in Nigeria was to reach German speakers with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The cleric spoke on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to an elder of the church, Chief Tunde Omikunle, at Obanikoro, Lagos State.
Christ’s Church was founded about 34 years ago and has a Nigerian-German congregation.
Edwards-Raudonant, who arrived in Nigeria in January 2018, said he liked Nigerians and their dedication to their faith.
He said, “My primary mission is to the German nationals or German speakers in Nigeria; they could be Germans, Austrians or Swiss. This is a special challenge because the church in Europe is declining.
“So, I want to reach the Germans here, where people take religion seriously. Perhaps they can learn from the Nigerians and also take religion, their own faith, seriously. I am reaching out to the Germans in this country to win them for Christ.”
He asked Nigerians to live together in peace and harmony, adding that religious differences should not create conflict.
The cleric advised the government to employ experienced hands in ending the herdsmen crisis in the country.
“The government needs to tap into the resources here by using people who are experienced in mediation and negotiation,” he added.
