An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), recently landed himself in trouble after he was caught violating the very rules he was employed to uphold.
According to a social media user identified as Raimi Ismail, the officer was accosted by some concerned road users after he was spotted driving against traffic along the Oworo area of the state. Ismail begged the question as to why officials should be caught violating the rules when common citizens strive to adhere to laid down rules.
In a series of videos shared by him, the officer who was donned in his LASTMA uniform could be seen tightly restrained by an older man, while another made several attempts to capture his face on camera.
Ismail also noted that the two men who were bent on apprehending the officers appeared to be politicians. “As seen in the video, some two old men perceived to be politicians held one of the drivers because others reversed and ran away after causing traffic for minutes,” he said.

Meanwhile,we previously gathered that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state, on Friday, June 14, warned officers of LASTMA to shun corruption and be civil while discharging their duties. Sanwo-Olu gave the warning during an interactive session with staff of the agency, during his visit to the agency’s office in Oshodi.
