Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State says his administration has secured a loan of N1.5bn to boost the activities of herdsmen and fishermen in the state.
He also appealed to the State House of Assembly to enact laws for the creation of cattle routes across the state.
The information was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Muazu Dakingari, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
“We appeal to the House of Assembly to enact laws for the creation of cattle routes across the state,” he said.
The statement also quoted the governor as saying that the state government had secured a loan of N1.5bn to boost activities of herdsmen and fishermen in the state.
“Out of the N1.5bn secured, N900m will be used to uplift the living condition of Fulani communities, while N600m will be used for fishermen, all through economic empowerment as well as to boost the economy of the state,” it added.
Bagudu said his administration would continue to give priority to the provision of water, education as well as agriculture and livestock production in the state.
“We urge farmers and herdsmen to continue to sustain the prevailing tranquility as well as safeguard harmony and avoid taking laws into their hands as authorities will not relent in taking appropriate action for complaints by any aggrieved member of the society,” he said.
