Following the withdrawal of the case stopping the installation of the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Traditional Council, by the Ilajo Clan in Kogi State, Chief Solomon Owoniyi is now free to ascend the throne.

At the resumed hearing of the case on Monday, counsel for the claimant, the Ilajo family, Peter Abah, made a tactical withdrawal of the case saying there was an “Error” he detected in the suit he filed.

Counsel for the defendant and the state government did not oppose the oral motion but prayed the court to grant them N1 million and N200,000 respectively for time wasting on the part of the claimant.

The judge, Justice Gwatana ruled in favour of the oral application, striking out the case and then charged the claimant N10,000 and N5,000 which would be paid to the defendants respectively.

The PUNCH had reported that the Ilajo family had approached the court to challenge the choice of the retired customs officer as the new Obaro of Kaba.

The court had at the last hearing ordered both parties to maintain the status quo which had prevented the state government from giving the staff of office to Chief Sunday Owoniyi.
