Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed concerns about the impact of unity on national development.

Jonathan, speaking at an ongoing one-day peace conference, tagged ‘Peaceful Elections and National Development,’ held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, said those in governance should not desire to occupy political office, but to ease the tension of citizens.

He said, “We experienced the civil war that ended since 1970 but up to date, the feelings are still in even children who were not born at that time because of the stories they get told and that is why we must do everything to avoid conflict because it is always difficult to erase these feelings.”
