Former Nigerian federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has criticised the government’s handling of the identity of the Italian who first tested positive to coronavirus in Nigeria.

In a tweet on Monday, March 2, Sani mocked the government’s approach, saying he hoped the man was not a spirit.

“I hope this Italian is not a spirit from Ancient Rome; no name and no face yet,” he said.

The Italian has been placed in isolation at the IDH quarantine centre in Lagos after falling ill and testing positive to the virus.

He arrived the country last Monday and visited Ogun during his short business trip. Several persons he had contact with have been quarantined.
