An armed robber who was apprehended by detectives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ikeja, Lagos State has made a shocking confession on his armed robbery activities.

Speaking after being presented to journalists by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, a suspected robber, Seyi Adebayo, stunned detectives after he confessed that he and members of his gang used to hire guns from two women residing at the Mushin area of the metropolis for operations.
The suspect said that he would have killed himself in his cell, if he had an inkling that he was going to be publicly presented as a robbery suspect by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command.
Seyi, who was arrested along with Damilola Oluwole and Olasupo Jeremiah for robbery, said that he was ashamed of himself, and disclosed that his parents and siblings had been crying their eyes out since they heard he was arrested for robbery.
Adebayo, who is a commercial cyclist, said: “I was arrested for robbery. We robbed a hotel. That hotel operation was my first robbery. I borrowed the gun I used in the robbery from a woman that sells hot drinks at Idiroko, Mushin. There are actually two women, who used to hire out guns for robbery operations in the area.

“One of the women is called Ajara. She sells herbs and keeps gun for robbers. The other woman, Odunku, also used to hire guns out to bad guys in the area,” Adebayo recounted:

“We used to rob people of their phones and laptops in the hotel. After the hotel robbery, I was given two phones; one IPhone 7 and one ordinary phone. If the police grant me pardon and release me, I promise to go back to my village in Ekiti State.

“I’ll go to my village to farm, rather than continue to stay in Lagos State. I have suffered. Even as a cyclist, I couldn’t make enough money to support myself and my parents.”
The suspect advised young people to desist from crime. This was even as he urged those planning to go into robbery and those already in the crime to repent.
