Liam Hemsworth has broken his silence after shocking pictures emerged of his wife of eight months Miley Cyrus kissing another woman.
Miley, 26, was spotted smooching Kaitlynn Carter on a raucous girls’ trip over the weekend.
29-year-old actor Liam has spent the days after holed up inside his brother Chris’ Byron Bay mansion.
But the youngest of the Hemsworth brothers emerged on Monday and spoke to reporters about the break-up.
When asked what was happening with Miley, a downcast Liam told Daily Mail Australia: “You don’t understand what it’s like.”
The pictures of Miley with Kaitlynn – who is also newly single – were said to have come as a complete surprise to Liam, who is reportedly heartbroken over their cosy display.
A representative for Miley spoke out after fans were whipped into a frenzy over what the pictures meant for the newly -married showbiz couple.
They said: “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
Miley has since released her own statement on the drama.
Addressing the split in her own words, she said: “Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win.”
The singer, who was clearly in a reflective mood as she took to Instagram , told fans: “I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own”
Then in a reference to her former single, she quipped: “Life’s a climb… but the view is great.”
Last month Miley said an interview that she was still ‘very sexually attracted to women’ and did not like the term ‘wife’ and what it represented.
” Do people really think that I’m at home in a f**king apron cooking dinner?” she asked.
“I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women. People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still f**king good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word.”
Miley and Liam first met back in 2009 while working on their film The Last Song together.The meeting sparked a decade long romance which had as many speed bumps as it did moments of delight – with an initial engagement reported in 2012.
The pair split in 2013 – but recouped two years later – and by 2016 it was said the pair were back on and engaged again.
However, it was not until December 2018 that the pair finally tied-the-knot in front of family and close friends at their home in Nashville, Tennessee.
