The Headies, formerly known as the Hip Hop World Awards, has revealed the award will be held on 24th March, 2018. The award was held annually in March for many years since inception in 2006, before the committee moved the event to the last quarter of every year.
According to the executive producer Ayo Animashaun, the award will now return to the first quarter of the year, with the addition of four new categories to the award.
After careful study of available releases and contents, the committee in charge picks March as the best period to host the award.
The four new categories are:
Headies Viewer’s Choice
Industry Brand Supporter
Best Performer
And Best Song Writer of the year.
The Headies will be handing out 24 awards in 24 different categories, winners will receive 21-carat gold plated Headies plague.
