Two lesbian lovers from Ghana have taken the Internet by storm after photos of their wedding in Holland made their way into the social media shortly after Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, said in an interview a few weeks ago that the subject of homosexuality is not a national issue at the moment.
The statement which was contained in an interview with Al Jazeera News, has polarised Ghanaians with some believing that the country could legalize same-sex marriage in the near future, especially when photos of the ladies surface at the secret wedding.
The unidentified lovers decided to take their affair to the next level by getting married in a private wedding ceremony in the European country, ostensibly to avoid any embarrassment in their homeland.
In one of the wedding photos, the newlyweds are seen kissing passionately while dressed elegantly in a Kente outfit which is Ghana’s national dress and in other photos, they are seen dressed in their white wedding apparels.
In another photo, the lesbian couple is seen cutting their wedding cake while in another, they are seen walking majestically out of the reception hall to begin their new lives together.
Many Ghanaians have continued to criticize the lesbians for embarrassing the nation outside the shores of Ghana while others have commended their courage in getting married instead of living in denial.
In the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk about homosexuality since Akufo-Addo’s interview with many agreeing with the President position means that the legalization of homosexuality in the country is not far.
