US rapper French Montana has clarifies his comment concerning R Kelly and the sexual abuse allegations against him.
Since Lifetime released a docuseries ‘Surviving R Kelly’ which details how RnB legend R Kelly sexually abused underaged girls, many celebrities have aired their disgust at the singer.
One of those is French Montana who likened the situation to what happened to other great musicians.
“All the greats went down like that. Let somebody enjoy their legacy. Whatever happened, happened, man.”
When asked if peoplele should stop listening to R Kelly’s music, he said,
“They [people] don’t let nobody have their legendary moments.”
Receiving several backlash for his comment, French Montana decided to throw his support behind the victims via a tweet:
“Let me be clear. My heart is with the victims. I never thought the people I looked up to as a kid, who sang and danced and gave me hope to become a superstar would become drug addicts, child molestors and rapists. I am hoping we as a culture create better leaders. We need them.”
