This is the first picture of a 14-year-old schoolboy who was hit by a train at Chertsey railway station, in Surrey.

The Year 9 student Sam Connor reportedly passed his phone and bag to pals before his death on Monday.

He died at around 4pm, when the station platform was full of about 50 schoolchildren.

One mum claimed Sam was being bullied – but Salesian School said it had no record of this.

Tributes, including flowers and notes, have been left at the railway station, with one reading: “So sorry that life wasn’t kinder to you sweetheart. RIP Angel.”

A large group of students on the platform reportedly screamed for him to get up before he was hit.

One passenger, named only has Lewis, was travelling on the train service from Chiswick when he said the train suddenly stopped with only one carriage alongside the platform.

He claimed to see schoolgirls crying on the platform and boys leaning down shouting “Sam, Sam”.

Lewis said: “I thought maybe one of the kids had dropped their phone as they were all looking down at the wheels of the carriage.

“We saw some of the girls starting to cry – we saw some of the boys leaning down literally on their knees.

“That’s when we realised something was wrong. There was a girl on the phone crying and trying to talk to the driver.”

Lewis said the children were ushered away around 10 minutes after the train came to a halt.

Passengers remained on the train for around half an hour as emergency services attended the scene.

Lewis said one student paramedic passed through the carriage and went onto the tracks to try and help, but she collapsed and burst into tears.

Tributes, including flowers and notes, have been left at the railway station, with one reading: “So sorry that life wasn’t kinder to you sweetheart. RIP Angel.”

Another read: “RIP little man. Find your happiness in heaven.”

There have been several online tributes saying “RIP Sam”.

One lad with friends at the school told  Mail Online  : “It’s horrible. I have friends who were there and saw the whole thing.

“They said he was being bullied. It’s only four days until school breaks up and you’d have thought he’d be able to get help.

“I’ve met him in passing and he seemed happy. But I guess you never know what’s going on with someone. It’s just a shock.”

He added that the pupil handed his bag and phone to friends before his death.

One mum told the website that her son had seen the pupil on his own in the school’s playground.

She said: “My son used to see Sam on his own in the playground.

“He never saw him being physically attacked but he knew he was being bullied. It’s just horrific.”

However, a school spokesman told Mail Online there was no record of the boy being bullied.

In a statement, head teacher James Kibble wrote: “We were devastated to find out that, following an incident at Chertsey station, one of our Year 9 students died.“This is an incredibly difficult situation for everyone, but knowing the faith, compassion and strength of our school community, I am confident that we will work together to support one another.

“We would ask that our community joins together to remember the student and their family in their prayers at this incredibly sad time.”
