Christian Jacob killed by gunmen in Aba has been identified as an ex-player of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba, Abia state.
Christian Jacob killed by suspected hired assassins who shot him dead on Thursday, outside his house. They left the scene with nothing else, they only accomplished their mission and left.
The Police Commad in Abia state has confirmed the crime. Abia state‘s Police spokesperson, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the former Enyimba player was killed on Wednesday outside his house on Umuola road, Ogbor Hill, Aba.
The death of Jacob, nicknamed “Nkita Ara” threw the people of the area into mourning because of his friendliness and popularity with the residents of the area.
Police are currently investigating the case although no arrest had been made so far, Ogbonna said. The corpse of the former player had been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary.
This new revelation debunks the rumours that has been going round that the ex-footballer was killed by robbers. Motive for the assassination is still unknown. The assassins were said to have left the scene without even taking his phone.
