The band was more of a rock band when they first began but over a couple of years now (2016–2017/18) they’ve transitioned to doing more pop/alternative especially through collaborations (with the likes of chainsmokers). Perhaps they don’t have the best style in fashion out there because they’re just so real and pure bred but all of their songs are catchy, unique and relatable. They have all songs in every ocassion. If you’re happy, feeling depressed, feeling real. Honestly their works can help you pass rough time. Call them Pop-Rock band
Quite a few things makes this band so special with regards to music. Sometimes you gonna have to really focus on the music to understand the meaning of the song. Their kind of music is what is important to the human life, what every human in the world needs right now even ex president of US -Barack Obama admitted that he is one of the millions of this band fans out there. Beat that!

People has gone as far asking why some people dislike Coldplay. And weird to know that one of the reasons is because Coldplay has been reportedly to be the only band, which never spread hate among people. Really!
TRIVIA/CONTROVERSY
In 2003 while in Australia, Chris Martin was arrested for attacking paparazzi.
AFTER TIP OFF
Coldplay was formed in a era when the old school rock n roll had died and something new was required to capture the heart and soul of people. This was the time when people were predominantly moving into the Pop culture. People were kind of bored with the excessive dominance of solos and vocalist, very few bands are usually able to merge these things together.
CONCLUSION
Coldplay started off as a soft art-rock band with their first album ‘Parachutes, they followed up with another great art rock album, ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head. After those albums they have transitioned to a pop band (especially with their latest LP ‘Ghost Stories’ which is predominantly pop influenced)

THE SONGS
“Yellow”: The band’s hit song “Yellow” was given its name after Chris Martin spotted a Yellow Pages book while he was trying to come up for a name for their song.
Parachute: When she was just a girl. She expected the world. But it flew away from her reach so. She ran away in her sleep.
This part of the lyrics seems to symbolize the expectations humans have about anything. In particular, when you are young, you dream about getting/achieving so many things. However, as you grow up and start becoming older, you realize that not everything is achievable and that not everything is meant to be.
