They say lightning doesn’t strike twice. But try telling that to England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek in his 21 years, he’s had THREE lucky escapes from lightning strikes. According to reports, a lightning bolt knocked out the security alarm at his £1.8million home in Cobham, Surrey, during a storm.

Just a few days later, another bolt is said to have hit an outbuilding housing his personal gym at the five-bedroom property. Fire crews spent six hours tackling a blaze started by the strike. The star, on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea, is also reported to have survived a lightning bolt when one hit a nearby window 12 years ago.

A source told the Sun: “He may have struggled getting game time for Chelsea, but he’s certainly got his luck on other things. “They say lightning doesn’t strike twice but this proves it strikes thrice.”

Loftus-Cheek, who was injured playing for England against Brazil last night, lives with his mum Juliette. She added: “It’s a bit shocking to have two strikes in a week.”
