Ed Sheeran has revealed he has written a James Bond theme song ready just in case he is ever asked. Appearing on RTE’s The Late Late show on Friday, Sheeran revealed that he penned the song three years ago in anticipation of being asked to write the theme music for the iconic movie.
Speaking to presenter Ryan Turbidy, the Perfect singer said: “With Bond, I’ve had a theme tune written for about three years, just in case.”
He admitted that he has not been asked to step in just yet but he said: “If ever I’m called I will be like, ‘alright there you go’”
He refused to reveal the name of the song and said he was worried someone might steal his idea but he confirmed that it was “good”.
Sheeran also talked about his recent collaboration with rapper Eminem. “I recently did a song with one of my all-time heroes Eminem, when we did a song together I already had the song planned,” he said.
The singer also spoke to Turbidy about his love of partying and admitted that he “loves drinking everyday”. He said: “I don’t see it as problematic. I love good times. If I drink everyday it is with people. Or in my hotel room watching a film with a bottle of wine.”
Sheeran was recently awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. He said that he wished his Grandfather from Belfast would have been around to see him receive the honour as he was “a real royalist”.
The Galway Girl singer went on to perform his track Nancy Mulligan which he said was inspired by his grandparents William and Anne Sheeran who got married despite being from different religions.
