For the most part, pregnancy sex is safe. However, there are some situations where it can actually harm you or your baby.

If you’re not sure, here are some of the signs that mean, don’t have sex during pregnancy.

1. Heavy cramping or pain

If you are experiencing severe pain or cramps during and after sex, it may be a sign to hold off for a while.

2. Bleeding

Don’t have sex during pregnancy if you experience vaginal bleeding. It’s a cause for concern if you notice unexplained bleeding because it may mean you’re putting too much pressure on the vagina.

3. Leaking amniotic fluid

If you notice this during sex, you must stop immediately and go see your doctor. The amniotic fluid is what protects your baby from infection and if it has been compromised, your baby could be in danger.

4. Infections

A sign that you should not have sex during pregnancy is if there is a possibility that your partner has an infection or an STD. It’s always better to be safe than sorry as infections could affect your baby in a more harmful way than it can affect you.

5. You don’t feel comfortable with it

Don’t have sex during pregnancy of you’re just not comfortable with it. It’s okay to say no. In fact, it’s better for you and your partner if you both hold off until you’re feeling comfier.
