The Delta State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa has said that his government is set to bring more infrastructural development to the State in line with its SMART agenda. Okowa gave the assurance Tuesday while commissioning road projects in Udu and Okpe Council areas at the resumed Town Hall meeting across the state.
According to Okowa, “I know that resources are scarce but we will do our best to bring more infrastructural development to Deltans.” At Udu, Okowa commissioned the reconstructed Ovwian main road and promised to fix another ailing road in DSC. The Governor earlier inspected Grace Road in Ekete Waterside area of Ovwian. Okowa later paid courtesy call on HRM Orhue I, the Orodje of Okpe before going to commission the ultra-modern multimillion Okpe market. The Orodje thanked the Governor for giving Okpe people hope with various projects.
He urged politicians to emulate the humility of Okowa, saying that some prayers rendered to puffy politicians is actually a curse. According to Okowa, “This is the first of modern markets we are constructing, because of the importance of markets to our people and due to demands, in 2018, we are constructing three modern markets in Ozoro, Burutu and Oghara.” The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr. Mary Iyasere disclosed that the market has 196 open shops, 28 lock up shops, 4 offices, 16 toilets, 1 coldroom, 1 storage room, 1 open hall, water borehole, reinforced concrete underground water tank, Steel elevated portable water tank, PHCN Electricity Supply, External Flood Lights, Platform for Yam Tubers, among other facilities. The Governor also took time to inspect the Iyanda Lawal farm, the biggest individual farm in the state. Okowa further Commissioned phase I of Arhagba/Okobia/Okuetolor road as well as Okuovo/Kpokpogri/Iriama roads in Okpe Kingdom.
