For the most part, pregnancy sex is safe and you have nothing to worry about unless your doctor says differently. The fetus is very well protected and there’s hardly any chance it will be negatively affected by all the sex you’re having.
However, there are a few things to consider when having sex during pregnancy. So to stay safe, avoid these five mistakes.
Having missionary sex
When having sex during pregnancy, avoid positions that can put pressure on the abdomen. This is even more important as you reach the second and third trimester of pregnancy. So, missionary sex may not be the best idea. But other moves like doggy style, spooning, woman-on-top are totally safe.
Having anal sex
Even though it does not seem like it, anal sex is a bad idea during pregnancy. You’re more likely to get an infection this way and you don’t want to risk passing it on to your unborn child. Save this particular freaky move for when you don’t have a bun in the oven to think about.
Skipping protection
If you’re not sure of your partner’s fidelity, you shouldn’t throw away the condoms just yet. STDs can be extremely dangerous during pregnancy. It can lead to early labor, miscarriage or even stillborn. When you’re pregnant, curing an STD is not as simple as a taking a few pills. It can cause a lasting damage for both you and your baby. So, stay safe.
Ignoring a bleed
If you notice heavy bleeding when having sex during pregnancy or afterward, make sure to go see your doctor immediately.
Having sex after water breaks
Nothing should go in your vagina once your water breaks as this puts you at a high risk for infection.
