Some fraudsters have reportedly resorted to duping some ladies who are really desirous of marrying the Ooni of Ife.
Many ladies desirous of marrying the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, might have been duped by fraudsters who gave them assurances of facilitating the marriage with the monarch.
According to Daily Trust, the monarch yesterday cautioned ladies to be careful with fraudsters using his name to deceive them.
One of the victims, who was said to have fallen prey to the antics of the fraudsters, Miss Elizabeth Odunlami claimed that the monarch dated and jilted her, but Oba Adeyeye denied any relationship with her.
Elizabeth’s case surfaced following the marriage between the Ooni and a gospel singer, Prophetess Naomi which spurred reactions on the social media as to the compatibility of a ‘prophetess’ and the foremost traditional ruler.
Many ladies were said to have complained that they missed the opportunity to marry the Ooni and that Naomi was only smart, but the monarch said he was unaware of these ladies and their desire to be his wife.
The monarch, through the palace spokesman, Moses Olafare, advised young ladies to report whoever promised them marriage in his name to the security agencies immediately.
Olafare said: “While we sympathize with Miss Elizabeth Odunlami who obviously has become a victim of a fraudulent act perpetrated by a scammer disguising to be Ooni Ogunwusi, we find it pertinent to debunk this sacrilegious and unfounded allegation which is not unlikely to be another calculated ploy adopted by some unprovoked detractors using psseudo-identities.”
“Members of the public especially ladies are hereby cautioned against communicating with anyone presenting himself to be the Ooni Ogunwusi and advised to swiftly report such a matter or person to the relevant security agencies.”
