Putting God first paid off for Letitia Wright, she got to play T’Challa’s little sister, Shuri after dumping acting and becoming a Christian.

Black Panther actress is sharing her incredible coming-to-Jesus story.

During an appearance on British talk show This Morning, she reveals how abandoning acting for God turned out to be a great thing for her.

In the interview aired Feb. 9, 2018, Wright, who plays T’Challa’s little sister, Shuri, says: “I needed to take a break from acting because I really idolized it.

“So I came off from it and I went on a journey to discover my relationship with God, and I became a Christian.”

This decision was made after she attended a London actors’ Bible study. At this point, she decided to put God first before everything else, including the chance to act alongside Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning.

“I remember God was like, to me, ‘Give up the job,’” the actress told Vanity Fair. “I can give you more than that; I just need you right now. Give up the job.”

In a surprising turn of events, Wright later got offered the Black Panther role, proving once again that putting God first remains the way to go (See Matthew 6:33).

The “Marvel” movie has been breaking box office records, getting praised by critics and even received a 97% rating on review site, Rotten Tomatoes.

It was described by Ann Hornaday at the Washington Post as “A film that fulfills the most rote demands of superhero spectacle, yet does so with style and subtexts that feel bracingly, joyfully groundbreaking.”

How knowing God has changed Black Panther actress

Now, the British actress says: “It really just gave me so much love and light within myself. I felt secure like I didn’t need validation from anyone else, or from getting a part. My happiness wasn’t dependent on that, it was dependent on my relationship with God.”

Concerning her acting career, Wright says she just wants God to use her as His “vessel.”

In her words: “Where I go, where He takes me, that’s where I need to spread the love of God. Because people’s souls are dying. My soul was dying, and He saved me. So I can’t keep this to myself … I fell in love with Jesus and I’m still in love. Amen.”

Christianity in Hollywood

She also reveals how more people in the business are getting to know God, adding that the Christian community in Hollywood is extremely supportive.

“There’s a reason there are so many Christians in the limelight. A lot of young people who are in the creative industry are finding an avenue toward God now,” she said. “We’re all in the same path, we’re all in the same thing. But we all support each other, and love each other, and keep each other grounded, and keep each other positive.”

Wright joins the growing list of actors who openly discuss their faith.
