The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Babatunde Gbadamosi, was very impressive during Saturday’s Lagos gubernatorial debate wowing the audience with the plans he has for the state if elected governor.

The debate was organized by The Platform, a civic discussion initiative of the Covenant Christian Centre and was moderated by British-Nigerian Christian broadcaster, Victor Oladokun.

In attendance: Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi who defected to ADP from PDP, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the PDP candidate, Jimi Agbaje, and the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Owolabi Salis.

When Gbadamosi was asked what he would do in his first 100 days in office, his response was shaky as he stated that he would increase the salary of civil servants but failed to state how he would do it.

He however regained his feet as he spoke on how he would decongest Lagos of traffic. He said he would set up rail lines at different exits of the state, ensure the water ways are used and move containers by badges instead of through road.

He further stated that he would bring his experience from the private sector in handling the state’s finances as he berated the ruling party on its handling of such.

He went on to make a snide remark about APC candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu as he states that he doesn’t have a godfather. Not ending there, he went further by fact-checking Sanwo-Olu who claimed that the state has been transparent with its budget. Gbadamosi made it known that the state budget website no longer functions.

Below are the candidates and their score for the night.

Babatunde Gbadamosi: 8/10

Sanwo-Olu: 6/10

Jimi Agbaje: 5/10

Sales: 4/10
