Arsenal’s Goalkeeper Cech Set To Retire End Of Season

After 20 years as a professional, Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper Petr Cech is set to retire at the end of the 2018/2019 English Premier League (EPL) season.

The 36-year-old who joined Arsenal in June 2015 from Chelsea announced this on his twitter handle @petrcech on Tuesday.

“This is my 20thseason as a professional player and it has been 20 years since I signed my first professional contract.

“So it feels like the right time to announce that I will retire at the end of this season,” he tweeted.

The Czech professional arrived England, signed for Chelsea from French Club Rennes in 2004 winning 13 trophies at the Stamford Bridge and FA Cup title in 2017 with the Gunners.

“Having played 15 years in the EPL, and won every single trophy possible, I feel like I have achieved everything I set out to achieve.

“I will continue to work hard at Arsenal to hopefully win one more trophy this season, then I am looking forward to seeing what life holds for me off the pitch,” the tweet ended.

Arsenal under new manager Unai Emery is fifth-placed with 41 points from 22 matches this season.
