Arsenal Seals New £200m Emirates Airlines Shirt Sponsorship Deal

Arsenal will dramatically increase their spending power after clinching a new £200m shirt sponsorship deal.

Emirates have agreed to extend their current deal until 2024 and the package is understood to be second in the Premier League only to Manchester United whose deal worth Chevrolet is worth £47m a year.

The new deal kicks in for the 2019/20 season and current Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s contract expires in 2019 and whoever is in charge will be afforded around £20m extra to spend on players.

It is the longest running tie-up in the Premier League and represents a huge boost an increase of 25 per cent on the last deal for Arsenal with more likely to come as they are in negotiations for a new sleeve sponsor and the kit deal is also being discussed.

Industry gossip is that adidas will get the new contract but current suppliers Puma have an option in their contract to match any bid, although Nike did not take it up last time.

The new shirt deal also includes training gear whereas Chelsea, United and Liverpool have separate deals while Arsenal’s deal also means they will fly on Emirates’ planes for their pre-season tours including this summer’s visit to Singapore.

Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “Emirates are again demonstrating their great belief in our approach and ambition and their significantly increased investment will help us continue to compete for trophies and bring more success to the club and our fans around the world.”

Arsenal will look to strengthen their squad this summer but there still remains a doubt over whether Wenger will be in charge as he accepts he is under pressure to reach the Champions League.

They are looking for a new keeper, new holding midfielder and new centre half as they look to strengthen the squad again.
