The SyliNationale were convincingly beaten 3-0 by Algeria on Sunday in their last 16 clash without their mercurial Reds midfielder, Naby Keita, who was forced to leave the camp following an injury he sustained in the 1-0 loss to the Super Eagles in the group match.

And according to reports in the local media, angry youths targeted the midfielder’s family home in Conakry claiming that one of the Guinean star’s relatives had performed witchcraft which had affected Keita’s performances at the AFCON.

Police in Conakry confirmed that they were called out after reports of a disturbance.

“We sent a team of policemen to a house at Coleah in Conakry to restore calm after some youths attempted acts of riotous conduct in a house believed to be the family home of footballer Naby Keita,” a police source told the BBC.

Keita has struggled with a groin injury since May.
