Former Child Actor And American Superstar Demi Lovato Makes Our AOTW

Demetria Devonne Lovato was born on 20th August 1991 in Albuquerque, New Mexico but raised in Dallas, Texas. Her father was of Mexican descent. Her mother has English and Irish ancestry. Lovato’s parents divorced in mid-1994, shortly after her second birthday. She began playing piano at 7 and guitar at 10 same year she also began dancing and acting classes while her acting career began on the children’s television series Barney & Friends as Angela in 2002.

 

Adolescence has subjected Demi to a victim of bullying, struggling with bulimia, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse, and eventually secretly began to cut herself. She was bullied so badly that she asked for homeschooling. She received her high-school diploma through homeschooling in April 2009.

 

Her music career took off in September 2007 when she began writing the songs with the Jonas Brothers, during filming of Camp Rock.  By early 2008, they co-wrote ten songs. She released her debut Album Don’t Forget on September 23, 2008, by Hollywood Records. The 11 tracks album features primarily a pop rock sound, with the lyrical content dealing with various adolescent topics. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

 

Not a particular single made it to top 20 on this album even though her 3rd single Get back from the album which only peaked at #40  fifth week on the chart on the Billboard Hot 100. She then dropped Here We Go Again her 2nd studio in July 2009 via same record label.

 

No 4. Give Your Heart A Break

Give Your Heart a Break” (peaked at number sixteen in the United States and has certified triple platinum off her 3rd Unbroken of 2012)

This is the break out song that described Demi as “good old American pop music”

Then came back with 3rd album Unbroken in September 2011.She described the album as “more mature with more R&B elements than her previous album citing Rihanna as the major influence. She collaborated with artists such as Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Dev, Iyaz, and Jason Derulo on several tracks.  Lovato infused personal struggles while dealing with lighter subjects, such as love, self-empowerment, and having fun in the album. Unbroken peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. It was certified gold by RIAA. The album was nominated at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards “Choice Pop Album”. It was certified platinum in Brazil, and gold in Chile and the Philippines. Three singles in the album Skyscraper, This Is Me” and “Sorry Not Sorry” peaked at numbers 10,6 and 6 respectively.

 

No 3 Skyscraper the lead single off her 3rd album “Unbroken” which was  nominated at the 2010   Teen Choice Awards “Choice Pop Album” peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. Skyscraper won the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) 2012: Best Video with a Message.

 

No 2 Sorry Not Sorry” was released as the lead single from the album in July 2017 and would go on to become Lovato’s most successful single in the United States, peaking at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and being certified 4× platinum by RIAA.

 

Self-titled Demi 4th album released May 2013. Lovato chose the title because it was her first album intended for a more mainstream audience, and those who did not know her music. She described Demi as “good old American pop music”, which was deeply influenced by her breakout single “Give Your Heart a Break”. The album debuted at #10 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was certified Gold in the US in September 2014.Her 5th is confident and 6th is Tell me you love me released in September 2017.

 

MOVIES
Lovato appeared on Prison Break in 2006, Just Jordan in 2007 and came to prominence as a starring cast member in the television film Camp Rock in 2008 among other movies. She later became a spokesperson for the anti-bullying organization PACER and appeared on America’s Next Top Model to speak out against bullying.

Demi Lovato was at some point in a very difficult place in her life due to one issue or  another spawning from body image such that she had to take several fitness classes (She tweeted, ‘I’ve been working so hard to get healthy and fit). Some 10 years ago, Demi she was in the limelight and then the paparazzi took a picture of her, which zoomed in on the cuts she was trying to hide on her wrist. That is when people began questioning if Demi was okay. Pretty sure y’all remember she bowed out of her world-wide tour and checked herself into rehab, which she successfully completed.

Now, she appears to have taken all gracefully coming back with new album in 2017. Recently, she wrote on her IG: “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

CONCLUSION
If there’s one thing every (young) female out there should learn from Demi Lovato as well as the box show, then you got to take this away “…you get your feelings out, but don’t ever inflict harm on your own body because your body is so sacred… If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends. Don’t put yourself in danger.
