Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Katsina State, Alhaji Shittu Shittu, yesterday, escaped lynching by youths and supporters of Alhaji Bature Masari, who defected to the party from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The event occurred at the Katsina State Government House, when Masari was on solidarity visit to the governor after his recent defection to the party. After Alhaji Masari was said to have completed his remarks, it was the turn of APC Chairman, Shittu, to make his own remarks when he was quoted as saying “I cannot say that I know you (Bature) very well. But I know you were in PDP and you campaigned against us when we were in the struggle. “I hope you have not come here to deceive us and then go away.” The statement didn’t go down well with Masari’s supporters as it generated reactions from youths, who attempted to attack the chairman in the presence of the governor and other senior government functionaries. The development took the intervention of security personnel to rescue Shittu out of the Council Chambers. Bature Masari was a two-term Chairman of Kafur Local Government Council and also later became an Interim Administrator for the council before he was appointed SMEDAN Director-General during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
