On New Year day, a drunk driver knocked down and killed an OAP with Fresh FM, Ibadan in Oyo state, Oluwafemi Oluwajobi. Femi who turned 32 years old on December 22nd, had just finished his shift on December 31st 2017 and was on his way home on January 1st when the driver who was drunk, knocked him down with his car.
The state police spokesperson, Ajisebutu Adekunle, in an interview with Punch, said the state command has launched a manhunt for the driver and that no one has been arrested in connection with the death of the OAP who is survived by a pregnant wife and a son.
However, Fresh FM which is owned by gospel artiste, Yinka Ayefele, has released a statement refuting the police claim. According to the radio station, the said driver, Ahmed Muritala, was apprehended by the police the same day and has since been in the custody of the police.

In the publication, Police Public Relations Officer of the OYO State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu claimed that no arrest has been made concerning the death of Olufemi Oluwajobi who died from injuries sustained after being run over by a hit and run driver at Challenge area of Ibadan.
Fresh FM Ibadan refutes police claim that drunk driver that killed one of their staff, Oluwafemi Oluwajobi, has not been arrested, shares audio of the driver confessing to the crime.
According to him, “We have impounded the car driven by the driver and it is parked in one of our police stations. “The driver escaped from the scene of the accident, but we are searching for him.
This claim by Ajisebutu is unacceptable and we condemn it entirely.
The general public should be informed that the said driver AHMED MURITALA was apprehended by the police the same day and has since been in the custody of the police.
Just yesterday, Tuesday 2nd January 2018, Ahmed confessed to running Olufemi Oluwajobi over but fled the scene as he was destabilized because he had already lost control after hitting a pole few meters before the scene of the accident. Ahmed was arrested after he caused another accident at Orita area of Ibadan with the same vehicle Honda Element with number plate “FST 04 ES”. Oluwajobi who died in the midnight of 1st January was until his death a presenter and newscaster with Fresh FM, Ibadan. Born on the 22nd of December, 1985, Mr. Oluwajobi is survived by a pregnant wife, son, aged parents, brother and sisters. The station also shared the audio of the said driver confessing to the crime.
