It is not a game of luck and it’s no child’s play, the UEFA champions league is a game for the big boys and the big boys alone. This year’s competition has paraded us with several surprises, the biggest revelation so far has being, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Although they are one of the most successful team in the competition and England’s most successful team in Union of European Football Association (UEFA) but recent years have not favoured them all round.
Liverpool have played 12 games to get to this year’s final and lost just once on their way here, winning 7 and drawing 4. Real Madrid on the other hand have played twelve, loosing twice and drawing one.
Real Madrid In recent years have domesticated the champions league competition by winning it back to back, the only club to do so in mordern football. When it comes to the competion they are like no other. If it were any other team in the champions league final against Liverpool, I would probably tip them to win, but against Real Madrid, it’s a no joy.
The attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and on form Mohammed Sallah now hold the football world to a standstill with their lightening speed of attack. But then Real Madrid time and over have proven to be a lightening arrester, with their undisputable ability to bring down the energy of their opponents with ease.
Liverpool have proven to be vulnerable times without number when their talisman Mo. Sallah has been marked out of any game. Therefore, their engine room can easily be short down by this Madrid team. This man solely detects the tempo of Liverpool’s game, which should not be so for a team heading into a final against Real Madrid.
Talking of the coaches involved, Zinedine Zidane has shown us his special affinity for winning UEFA Champions league finals as he has won 2 finals in 2 years as Real Madrid head coach, his record just shows the man knows how to do job till the last minute. Unlike his counterpart and Liverpool coach Klopp. For him in recent years, finals have come with nothing but heart breaks, disappointments and epic failure. Loosing with Dortmund in the Final against Bayern and loosing the Europa League Final with Liverpool.
Real Madrid will be heading into the final with a better experience of the game accompanied with the drive to avoid a trophy less season. This is a side that perfectly understands the game unlike any team that we have seen in modern era. It’s a sure win for Real Madrid but we still expect a huge fight from Liverpool.
