Community Chief In Plateau State Shot Dead By Unknown Assassin – Police Report

Another community Chief in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State was on Sunday night murdered having received gunshots from his attackers, the State Police Command confirmed. This is the fifth murder of a title holder in the locality in almost two years; a trend security agency insist is being investigated.

The latest incident involves the Madakin Garam, Tarangol village; Amos Marit who report say was trailed to his house in Fakkos village in the late hours and shot by the yet to be identified persons. However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mathias Tyopev told Vanguard, “Yes, it happened. Two of the man’s relative came to the Station and reported that around 8.35pm on Sunday, some people broke into his house and he was shot at the back and the people ran away. “The relative took him to a hospital there in Bokkos where he died in the process of receiving treatment. The area is peaceful as we speak but investigation is on to ascertain those behind the dastardly act.”

It would be recalled that from 2016 to date, a village chief was murdered at Kwatas village, a Second-Class Chief from Monguna district murdered, the Paramount ruler of Bokkos also killed and a newly elected Chief in Monguna was again murdered before this latest incident. In all these, no arrest has been confirmed to have been made.
