Little Mix star Jesy Nelson breaks down in tears as she explains how her ex-boyfriend tried to make her be sick and called an ambulance
Jesy Nelson ex-boyfriend tried to help save her life during her heartbreaking suicide bid.
The Little Mix singer has revealed she wanted to end her life after receiving vile abuse from online trolls, including the controversial Katie Hopkins, after an X Factor performance in November 2016.
After starving herself for a week yet still being fat-shamed, Jesy’s severe depression “spiralled out of control” and she describes thinking: “What’s the f***ing point?”
In new BBC Three documentary Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out, the singer describes how she took tablets and was waiting to die in bed when her ex woke up and tried to make her be sick in the bathroom.
The Little Mix star does not reveal the identity of the ex-boyfriend, but Jesy was with former fiance Jack Roche at the time.
The Push Baby (formerly Rixton) singer, who is the son of EastEnders actor Shane Richie and Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan, started dating Jesy back in 2014.
Jake popped the question in July 2015 in the middle of a Little Mix soundcheck at Manchester Arena – a year after they met at the venue.
News that the couple had called off their wedding and split emerged mid-November 2016 after they ‘grew apart’.
Speaking in her candid documentary, Jesy reveals doctors told her she was lucky to survive after trying to take her own life.
After a torment of vile abuse, Jesy came home from having dinner with her mum and couldn’t see light at the end of the tunnel.
Breaking down in tears, she says: “I was sat in bed thinking this is never going to go. I’m going to constantly wake up and feel sad for the rest of my life so what is the point in being here. There is no point in waking up and feeling sad everyday.
“I physically couldn’t tolerate the pain anymore. It feels constantly constantly heartbroken. I remember feeling this has to go away and it was the first time I thought I’m going to do this, I’m going to end this.
“I remember going to the kitchen and I took as many tablets as I could. I just laid in bed for ages and thought ‘hurry up and let it happen’.”
“I said ‘I just want to die. I just want it to go away’,” explains devastated Jesy.
“He said ‘why are you saying that for?’ He was trying to make me be sick in the bathroom and then the ambulance came.”
