A sleepy bear cub enjoyed a free stay at a hotel in the wilderness by breaking into its restaurant and taking a nap in the women’s toilet.

Staff at the Buck’s T-4 Lodge & Restaurant in the US state of Montana were alerted by shocked guests who found the young black bear napping on top of a sink.

The bear’s unexpected visit attracted curious diners and guests and took out their phones and filmed the surreal moment while officials from the wildlife department tried to coax the animal out.

Footage shows the bear resting comfortably in the sink while experts make a ‘clicking’ sound to draw its attention.

The bear broke into a hotel’s restaurant and refused to come out
But the bear showed no intention to come out of the bathroom and instead took a nap.

David O’Connor, co-owner and general manager of Buck’s T-4 Lodge, told CNN: “We heard a bit of a racket in the lobby.

“Sure enough, the bear had found a window with enough of an opening to get into the ladies’ room by the lobby.

The bear eventually fell asleep on top of the sink

“The bear wasn’t able to get himself back out as the window was too high, but he was real comfortable there.

“He just hung out on the counter where it was cool, and literally went to sleep,”

Game warden from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), and officers from the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office decided to tranquilise the animal so it could be safely removed from the building and returned to the wild.

The bear will be relocated to a remote area in Montana

They checked its vitals before taking it to safety outside the hotel. The officials said the bear will be moved from Gallatin Canyon to another area of Montana and released to nature.

The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office later posted on Facebook: “Teamwork keeps people and wildlife safe!”

The bear was not injured and there was no reported damage in the hotel.
