Pest controller Rory McCarty was shocked to find hundreds of bed bugs in a mattress after responding to a pest invasion at a home in Maryland, US
This is the shocking moment a pest controller finds the ‘worst case of bed bugs ever’ on a mattress the owner still sleeps on.
Rory McCarty, 50, responded to a call in Maryland, US, on July 17 after reports of an infestation.
Rory, who has worked in pest control for 25 years, was startled to find an army of bed bugs crawling all over the bed.
In the unsettling Facebook video, Rory’s colleague lifts up the mattress to reveal hundreds of insects scurrying across the bedding.
Rory can be heard warning his crew not to “put their pants” against the mattress, instructing them to lift the bed “carefully” and keep a safe distance.
Rory said: “Oh my goodness. I’ve never seen nothing like this.”
The pest controller was stunned at the mass infestation, as an alarming number of bugs and eggs were seen sprawled across the discoloured mattress.
Hundreds more made their home across the wooden bed frame and the carpet underneath, falling off the mattress like specks of dandruff .
Rory told Story Trender : “Bed bugs can be one of the most difficult and expensive bugs out there to get rid of.
“I’ve been doing this for 25 years and it still amazes me seeing bad infestations, but I still get very excited like it’s the first time seeing them because we’re really good at what we do.”
The bug infestation even spread up to the house’s curtains, cushions and chairs.
Social media users were startled at the horrific sighting, shocked over how the owner could still sleep on the mattress knowing the creatures were crawling underneath.
One said: “Man I hope you have a decontamination center…. I think I’d burn my clothes and shoes and I would shower for and hour before getting anywhere near my house!”
