Rapper 50 Cent has shared a video showing him burning a Gucci shirt to announce his support for the call to boycott Gucci designed clothes.
His action came after Gucci released a sweater which reminded people of the Blackface racist caricature.
The clothing company has however issued an apology via a statement in which they announced the removal of the sweater from stores. However, the apology wasn’t enough for many African-Americans, especially the celebrities who pride in spending huge money on Gucci designs. A call to boycott Gucci which was issued by rapper T.I has been obeyed by celebrities like Spike Lee, Soulja Boy and recently 50 Cent.
However, not all black celebrities are in line with the boycott. Rapper Kodak Black distanced himself from the boycott stating that Blacks are just over reaching on the issue. Professional boxer, Floyd Mayweather is also not buying into the boycott Gucci call. According to him, no one can tell him what and what not to do.
