A fake news has been going around that INEC has changed their pattern of voting.
The message reads that voting with the thumb is now null and void and voters can only cast their vote with their index finger.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has debunked the rumors and said any finger can be used to vote.
In a question and answer session on the social media page of the commission, they explained that the 10 fingers of the voter were captured in their system and so any is acceptable.
However, voters should be guided and ensure that the ink does not cross into another box, otherwise the vote will be considered invalid.
They wrote:
“A voter can use any finger but should ensure that his or her mark is clear and placed inside the box of the political party of his or her choice and does not stray into another box”.
