Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has opened the door for a return to Arsenal.

After three successful seasons with the Blues, Fabregas is out of contract at the end of the season and it remains unclear whether he will be offered an extension.

The Spaniard believes he still has more to offer as a footballer and has not ruled out a return to the club where he made his professional debut as a 16-year-old.

“I feel fine still,” Fabregas told Marca. “In seven months my contract ends with Chelsea. It will be 16 seasons playing at the highest level, over 750 games, a lot of training, travelling… I feel young and strong but maybe I can’t do 60 games a season. With my style I think I can keep playing for longer and obviously I want to keep playing for many years.

“Of course, Arsenal will always be in my heart and I will never forget them so why not return. You never know.”

It is unclear whether Arsenal fans would welcome Fabregas back to the club. Gooners felt aggrieved when the 31-year-old joined their London rivals from Barcelona in 2014.
