55-Year-Old Kaduna State Education Commissioner Dies Following Brief Illness

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Education, Prof. Andrew Nok has died. He died in the early hours of today after a brief illness. Nok had been down with an undisclosed ailment, and was on admission at an Abuja hospital. He was discharged last week but passed on today, Tuesday, November 21st.  He was 55 years old.

Andrew Nok is a renowned Professor of Biochemistry, with notable discoveries to his name. He was the first scientist in the world to discover the gene responsible for an enzyme which causes sleeping sickness.

His death comes weeks after conducting the controversial competency test that exposed over 21,000 unqualified teachers in the state.
